Day 1Taipei, at your own pace
Your Taiwan story begins at Taoyuan International Airport. A private, unescorted car transfer brings you to your chosen Taipei hotel, where the rest of the day is yours. Take a gentle neighbourhood walk, seek out a first taste of Taiwanese cooking at your own expense, or simply settle in after the flight. Tomorrow, the island opens up beyond the city.
Day 2Mountain reflections at Sun Moon Lake
Leave the city behind for Sun Moon Lake, where wooded slopes frame the water and the pace begins to soften. Explore Ita Thao village, home to the indigenous Thao community, and discover the lake’s cultural landmarks: Ci’en Pagoda, Xuanzang Temple and Wenwu Temple. With your English-speaking guide, the temples and lakeside views become part of a richer story of the region. Spend the night by the lake or in Taichung.
Day 3Old streets, local flavours and golden Buddhas
Travel south to Tainan, where Fort Zeelandia and Anping Old Street reveal another chapter of Taiwan. Browse the small shops and, if you wish, buy a local snack such as shrimp rolls or tofu pudding. Continue to Fo Guang Shan Monastery near Kaohsiung, taking time for its tranquil grounds and Buddhist heritage. The evening is free to discover the city or unwind at your hotel.
Day 4Southern headlands to hot spring country
Kenting brings Taiwan’s southern coastline into view. Discover the coastal formations of Maopitou and Chuanfan Rock, the white silhouette of Eluanpi Lighthouse and the open Pacific outlook from Longpan Park. Follow the scenic South Link Highway toward Taitung, exchanging sea views for a restful evening in Zhiben’s hot spring country.
Day 5Follow the rhythm of the Pacific
The east coast is a landscape shaped by wind and waves. Explore Xiaoyeliu’s coastal geology, Sanxiantai’s distinctive arched bridge, the rock terraces at Shitiping and the scenery of Fanshuliao. Continue to Hualien and take the train to Yilan, where Jiaoxi’s hot spring setting offers a gentle finish to a day of dramatic coastal discovery.
Day 6Whisky, craft and living traditions
Discover a different side of the island at King Car Kavalan Whisky Distillery, with an introduction to Taiwanese whisky making. Continue to the National Center for Traditional Arts, where heritage architecture, exhibitions and cultural displays bring local creativity into focus. Return to Taipei for your final overnight stay and an evening at your own pace.
Day 7Taipei’s treasures, then your next chapter
A guided morning visit brings together three Taipei landmarks: the National Palace Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Longshan Temple. Return to your hotel and enjoy free time as your flight schedule allows. Your private airport transfer completes the Taiwan journey — or keep exploring with the optional seven-night Hong Kong extension.
