Southern Italy: Amalfi & Ancient Worlds
This Rome loop brings together volcanic history and coastal towns, then ends with royal architecture and water gardens. Two nights around Pompeii provide a base for the optional Capri day; boats, the Blue Grotto and other paid visits remain choices to confirm, not an all-inclusive package.

Day-by-day journey and optional experiences
These are the handbook’s route highlights, not a promise to enter every building or complete every listed activity. Tickets and additional transport cost extra and depend on operation, season, weather and the confirmed schedule. If you decline an optional experience, confirm the waiting and rejoining arrangements.
Day 1 · Rome → Naples → Mt. Vesuvius → Pompeii
Leave Rome under the confirmed pickup arrangements and head towards Naples, Vesuvius and Pompeii. Naples supplies the urban setting, while a Vesuvius crater visit and the excavated streets of Pompeii offer different ways to understand the region’s volcanic history. Both require separate tickets and sufficient time. Vesuvius has no on-site ticket office according to the supplier, so advance arrangements are essential; do not promise the hike without confirmed tickets and conditions.
Overnight: Pompeii or a nearby city.
Day 2 · Pompeii→ Sorrento → Capri Island → Blue Grotto → Sorrento→ Pompeii
Travel to Sorrento, the coastal departure point for an optional Capri excursion. Ferry crossings, the Blue Grotto and the Anacapri chairlift are separate choices, not included transport or admissions. The grotto depends on sea and operating conditions, so a photograph of its blue interior cannot be read as a guaranteed visit. Confirm what happens if boats do not operate or if you choose to remain on the mainland. Return to the Pompeii area overnight.
Overnight: Pompeii or a nearby city.

Day 3 · Pompeii → Amalfi Coast → Positano → Amalfi Coast
Follow the Amalfi Coast towards Positano and Amalfi, where steep coastal settlements and the sea-facing setting are the principal attraction. Amalfi Cathedral, the Cloister of Paradise and the Paper Museum are potential paid visits around the town, with time also described for the seafront. The available stops depend on local access and the driving schedule. Stay on the Amalfi Coast or in a nearby area; a seaview room is not promised.
Overnight: Amalfi Coast or a nearby city.
Day 4 · Amalfi Coast → Caserta → Tivoli (Villa d’Este) → Rome
Return towards Rome via the Royal Palace of Caserta and Tivoli’s Villa d’Este. The palace and the water gardens introduce a different side of southern Italy after the coast and archaeological sites, with fountains and formal garden design as the main themes. Admissions are extra and must respect closing days. Return to Rome in the early evening, with the final meeting/drop-off point subject to the same access restrictions as the first day.
Tour ends today; no hotel night is included tonight.
Where do I board, and is hotel pickup included?
Meeting city: Rome. The handbook specifies morning collection at a pre-arranged time and place. It does not publish a fixed departure hour or a universal meeting-hotel address.
City-centre door-to-door pickup when joining and drop-off when leaving are included. Send us your Rome hotel name, full address and contact number so the operator can confirm its service area and vehicle access. A requested hotel is not an accepted pickup point until confirmed. Collection from every customer-selected hotel, airport or outlying address is not guaranteed or automatically included.
The operator says the driver-guide will contact guests by 21:00 local time on the day before departure. If you have not heard from the guide, call the number on your official tour voucher. Present the printed or electronic voucher when boarding and carry valid travel documents.
End point: the pre-arranged drop-off location in Rome. The handbook anticipates an evening return on the last day, without a guaranteed clock time. Airport transfers, pre/post-tour hotels and connecting flights must be confirmed separately before you commit to onward travel.
Rome exception: a hotel inside a restricted ZTL may require you to meet at the nearest safe point outside the zone, arranged with the driver-guide. Areas around the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and Pantheon may be affected. Provide your full hotel address so the operator can confirm the meeting point. Any pickup outside the city centre and its charge require separate confirmation.
Stay, inclusions and booking essentials
Accommodation and breakfast
3 nights in local ordinary four-star hotels, based on twin/double sharing, with continental breakfast—typically tea or coffee, juice, bread and jam. The operator allocates properties; a central sightseeing location is not promised. If the planned town and nearby hotels are full, another suitable hotel along the route may be used. Rooms can be modest, and air-conditioning and full toiletries are not guaranteed.
Vehicle, group and guiding language
The handbook states a minimum of two paying guests and a maximum of six. Travel is by a 5–9-seat air-conditioned business van with a driver-guide for up to ten hours daily; vehicle model and luggage capacity depend on allocation. English and Chinese options exist, but different-language guests may share one vehicle when numbers are low. An exclusively single-language vehicle is not guaranteed. Specify your language preference when enquiring.
Included in the fare
3 hotel nights with continental breakfast, the business van and driver-guide, fuel, parking, the driver’s accommodation and meals, and joining/leaving transfers within the stated city-centre scope. Included driver meals are operating costs, not lunch or dinner for passengers.
Costs to budget separately
Lunch, dinner, drinks, admission tickets, themed activities, trains/mountain transport/boats, local accommodation taxes, insurance, visas and flights are excluded. Mandatory driver-guide tips are EUR10 per passenger per day for adults and children: EUR40 for this tour, payable in cash on tour. Driver-guide overtime beyond ten hours costs EUR80 per hour; extra hours are not automatically available or included. Accommodation taxes are payable under the applicable hotel/local rules.
Luggage and walking
Each guest may bring one suitcase no larger than 28 inches and weighing less than 30 kg, plus one small bag no larger than 20 inches. Extra luggage is accepted only if space permits. The handbook lists €5 per extra piece/day and £5 for specified UK services; confirm the applicable currency and acceptance before travelling. Many sights require walking because vans cannot stop at the entrance. The operator says these shared tours cannot accommodate guests requiring wheelchairs; tell us about mobility or assistance needs before booking.
Children, companions and documents
The age 0–11 child fare applies when sharing with two adults without an extra bed. Two adults and two children are charged as four adults in two rooms. Supplier conditions require under-18s, pregnant guests and guests aged 80+ to travel with an adult relative or friend under 75. Pregnant guests and those aged 70+ must also complete the operator’s commitment/waiver form. Check all passport, visa and entry requirements; the handbook additionally specifies its minimum six-month passport-validity requirement.
Confirmation, payment and cancellation
An inquiry creates neither a reservation nor a payment. Operator acceptance, written confirmation and an official tour voucher are required; confirm the tour before buying connecting flights. Your payment deadline will be stated in the formal quotation and confirmation; the balance must be received by that date. Late requests need acceptance and payment confirmation. For cancellation/rescheduling 16 or more days before departure, the handbook allows a full refund/free rescheduling; 15–8 days, a 50% fee of the full invoice; seven days or fewer, no refund or rescheduling. No-shows, lateness and unused services remain subject to the confirmed terms.
Planning your departure
Attraction selection and opening times must be confirmed for your departure. Tell us which visits matter most when you enquire.
